Like 'Gotham', this season is divided into multiple sections in which a central villain or conflict is present. Even if his children are killed, Barry just has to live to be a father so he can make the same children over again. When Barry's kids travel from the future, Barry stops them from fighting Godspeed in fear of their safety, intending to fight him alone, except-hello! If Barry gets killed, so do his children. He was reduced to 'evil-neurons scattered along the universe' or whatever the hell they said he was, then was reformed into a human again so that he and Barry can defeat the antagonist Godspeed. No one will ever be able to tell me, I think, how Reverse-Flash (Tom Cavanaugh) is still alive, when his ancestors were killed before they could produce him. What is the ultimate point, I wonder, in watching 'The Flash'? What is it meant to deliver? The obvious answer is thrills and spectacle, but how can one be thrilled or awed when the plot constantly undermines itself? Why does it set up storylines (Cisco leaving Team Flash, Barry not allowing his children to fight) then reverse them so it's like they never happened? Of course, this is not so different from earlier seasons maudlin emotions and stale melodrama propel sappy emotional storylines only so they can reach a predictable uplifting conclusions.
